AWARD-WINNING BACKYARD RETREAT
This 2018 Brighton, MI, project created an award-winning retreat for the homeowners. The centerpiece is the pool, but this project is so much more. It is a stunning dream landscape. A beautiful open-sided pool house complete with fireplace and TV creates an opportunity to escape the summer sun and to enjoy the landscape in the cooler months. The multi-level patios are constructed with light-colored pavers with a dramatic charcoal grey border and feature ample space for dining and relaxing. The entire setting has a secluded feel, as the design takes advantage of the site’s natural slope to create two distinct outdoor rooms: the upper patio with a bistro-style dining area perfect for outdoor breakfasts, and a lower patio with all the amenities of a high-end resort. A series of masonry retaining walls and lush plantings create privacy for the pool area, while maintaining a sense of spaciousness. A beautiful masonry staircase creates a dramatic entry into the lower, more private pool area. A fire pit on the lower level and a fire table on the upper level invite lingering and conversation, and a pergola-shaded gourmet outdoor kitchen with bar seating makes cooking outdoors an absolute joy.
