BLENDING ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE
This 2018 project in Milford, MI, took advantage of a gently sloped lot to create a small patio perfect for taking in the spectacular lake views, and to soften the visual impact of a somewhat stark rectangular structure. The light buff-colored stones perfectly complement the neutral tones of the siding, and create a beautiful juxtaposition between the rustic heft of large stones and clean and simple architectural lines. The tiered retaining wall is also integrated into the landscape through the use of plantings and large stone slabs that look as though they were quarried onsite. The overall feeling is that this garage belongs in the landscape, almost as if it were a natural extension of the stone.
